Data Transit Announces First Protocol Analyzer for PCI Express Technology Data Transit Broadens Leading Expertise in Storage Marketplace SAN JOSE, Calif. (February 18, 2003) -- Data Transit Corporation, the leading supplier of modular bus protocol analyzers, today announced availability of the world's first PCI Express protocol analyzer, the Bus Doctor PCI Express. Data Transit's new bus pod turns the new Bus Doctor Rx into a full-featured PCI Express protocol analyzer, which will significantly reduce development time and cost for host, device and software and hardware developers.
Data Transit will demonstrate the Bus Doctor PCI Express for the first time at the Intel® Developer Forum February 18 - 21, 2003. For a demonstration, stop by booth #202, within the PCI Express Community. PCI Express architecture is a serial I/O technology compatible with the current PCI software environment that offers low-cost, scalable performance for the next generation of computing and communications platforms. Suitable for both chip-to-chip and add-in card implementations, PCI Express technology defines a packetized protocol and a layered architecture that enables attachment to copper, optical, or emerging physical signaling media. These properties, combined with an initial bit rate of 2.5 Gigabits per second per lane per direction, make PCI Express architecture an ideal attach point for performance-intensive applications. "With the introduction of the Bus Doctor PCI Express, Data Transit continues to lead the way delivering critical tools for the SAN development community," said Dennis Evans, president and COO, Data Transit Corporation. "Our line of Bus Doctor protocol analyzers offers unprecedented modularity and configuration options. It's the only protocol analyzer to support storage, network, backplane, and peripheral busses. We analyze more protocols than any other test equipment company, and we can do it with the same analyzer." "The industry has transitioned its product development focus to PCI Express designs," said Jim Pappas, director of initiative marketing for Intel's Enterprise Platform Group. "In order to speed PCI Express product delivery, availability of design tools like Data Transit's Bus Doctor are critical. We're pleased to see Data Transit showcasing their products in the first PCI Express community at IDF." "Delivering the first PCI Express protocol analyzer confirms our commitment to continue to be the leader in bus protocol analyzers for the server and SAN communities," said Dale Smith, Chairman and CEO, Data Transit Corporation. "Our Bus Doctor Rx analyzers allow our customers to simultaneously analyze diverse busses, now including PCI Express, all with the same reference clock and cross triggering." Data Transit is also demonstrating the first protocol analyzer and traffic generator for Serial Attached SCSI at the Intel Developer Forum within the Serial ATA Community, booth #501. The company is featuring its industry-leading Serial ATA protocol analyzer and traffic generator, and will also be demonstrating its complete Bus Doctor line of protocol analyzers.
